The Ligurian "Via del Sale" is the road built in the Middle Ages to carry salt from Ventimiglia to Limone Piemonte and then to Turin. Later, the road has been enlarged and many sections have been transformed into military roads to connect all forts located along the border between Italy and France. Today it is a wonderful offroad way, which runs along the ridges of the Maritime Alps on the border between Italy to France, through wild and beautiful landscapes with both the sea and the mountains.
