Level 1: Gravel lanes and open trails alternating with single trails without steep ascents or descents, and with the occasional detour on longer stretches of tarmac to avoid off-road sections that are too extreme. Suitable for novices. Level 2: Gravel lanes with washouts and potholes, eroded open trails, occasional deep ruts, firebreaks, dry river courses, simple river crossings, single trails without steep ascents or descents. Suitable for novices. Level 3: Rutted gravel lanes, eroded open trails with water holes, single trails with tight turns as well as extreme ascents and descents, demanding river and stream crossings. With longer, easier passages in between. Riding experience in the area recommended. Level 4: Slopes, scree, deep sand, ruts, slippery ground: There is difficult terrain like this, as well as steep ascents and descents to master. Also on the itinerary: Mud holes, steep slopes, slope traversing and fast riding. Regular riding experience in the area required. |

The mountain pass Colle di Nava shares its name with the local town. They are both close to the “Via del Sale” (Salt Road) in Liguria, and form the perfect starting point for our high-level experience. The Via del Sale was built in the Middle Ages for transporting salt from Ventimiglia to Limone Piemonte, and was later used as a military road to link the forts along the border between Italy and France. Today it forms a wonderful offroad route stretching the length of the Maritime Alps and taking you through exquisitely beautiful, wild landscapes of mountain and sea. Offroad riders attracted by breathtaking views rather than by particular challenges presented by the trail will enjoy this tour at its best. Accompanied by our tour guides you will discover the hidden routes leading off the more well-worn trails. Amongst other places these hidden trails will take you up to Pizzo
d’Ormea at an altitude of 2500 m above sea level.
